Slider

A slider is a graphical user interface element that allows the user to select a value or a range of values from a continuous range of options. Sliders typically consist of a horizontal or vertical track with a sliding indicator or thumb that the user can drag to select a value or a range of values.

Sliders can be used in a variety of ways in user interfaces. For example, they can be used to set the volume or brightness of a device, to select a date or time range, or to set a value for a numerical parameter such as price or size.

Sliders can be designed in different styles, with different sizes, shapes, and colors. They can also have different levels of precision, such as a range of discrete values or a continuous range of values.

Continuous sliders

Continuous sliders allow users to set and select a value along a subjective range.

Discrete sliders

Discrete sliders can be adjusted to a specific value by referencing its value indicator. Allowed selections may be organized and indicated with tick marks that a slider thumb will snap to.
